AGAVE ANGUSTIFOLIA VAR. MARGINATA
The Agave Angustifolia var. Marginata belongs to the family Asparagaceae, Marginata is an evergreen, succulent plant up to 4 feet tall and wide, with a dense rosette, rounden in outline. The leaves are up to 2 foot long, fairly stiff, concave towards the middle with a broad central band colored pale green and strong creamy white margins that often have a flush of pink. The flower becomes after 10 yearls old or even more, it sends up an up to 10 feet long spike with a well- branched panicle bearing greenish-white flowers.
Some common names are: Green `N Cream, Variegated Caribbean Agave, Narrow century plant, Mescal Agave, Marginata, Century Plant.
Agaves are not a difficult plant to grow, are great for grow in containers do to their small size, and slow growing.
Care is easy, they need full sun to partial shade or very high interior lighting. Plants whould be watered and allowed to dry before watering again, and fertilize only once during the growing season with a balanced fertilizer.
These plants are propagated by using suckers, whick often are found growing around the base of the plant. Many plantlets will form from the inflorescence, offering good opportunities for propagation.
